Olfeig - Martin KayOlfieg reflects the journey of a polar bear on a lab of ice, heading for the bullet upon reaching land. The calm before the tragedy is musically conveyed through cyclic motions of major thirds, unified by a four minute melody.Ockhams Razor - Paul StanhopeOckham's Razor, the principle of ontological economy attributed to the 14th century philosopher William of Ockham, suggests directness of language. The academic title is tongue-in-cheek, given the exuberant nature of the work with its edgy, pop-influenced rhythms and flamboyant musical gestures.Video Game Dreaming iii Game Boy Music - Matthew HindsonVideo Game Dreaming is a work written in response to video games, their characteristics and their effects upon our everyday lives. I have been an avid player of video games, going right back to Pong and Space Invaders through to the realtime strategy games of the current day. |
