Diastema Saxophone Quartet (CANCELADO)
from France Since 1986 the four member of the Diastema Saxophone Quartet have shared the same passion and enthusiasm for chamber music. They have acquired colossal experience on international stages witch placed the quartet in the front row of the chamber music groups. They have performed with many highly acclaimed orchestra in Paris, Toulouse, Calgari, Taipei, Washington. Their necessity for exploration in music has led many composers to write for them (recently Philippe Geiss and Vincent Paulet) and Diastema still push to experiment with different forms of art: improvised music, Dance, Scenography. The dynamism and the fusion within the quartet drive the members to new and exciting moments in concert or recordings. |

Imaginary Dances - Philippe GeissDedicated to the Diastema saxophone quartet, 'Imaginary Dances' is build on a quasi unique baritone bass line which enables the other member of the quartet to develop their solos as an improviser would do, exploring the originality of his own language. As Philippe's own 'crossover' path, the different parts of the music are inspired by rhythms, colours and various 'mode de jeu' issued from all musical influences varying from classical and contemporary music to jazz music without forgetting world music. The global colour of the piece is therefore very near to the sound of improvised music. ! The coda, first soft as a memory and violent to the end remind us that life is sometimes very unfair. This conclusion is an emotional moment which pays tribute to Philippe Lecocq, great saxophonist and founder of the Diastema Saxophone Quartet. |
