Richard Dirlam gained First Prizes and Medals of Honor in Saxophone Performance and Chamber Music from the Conservatoire de Musique de Bordeaux, France while studying with Jean-Marie Londeix. Dirlam has performed recitals, chamber music concerts, and as a soloist with orchestras on every major continent. He performs and records with the Minnesota Orchestra, St Paul Chamber Orchestra, and other venues in North America. Dirlam is a founding member of the Quatour International de Saxophones. As its name indicates this quartet of saxophones is composed of musicians living at the four corners of the planet, Japan, Paris, Canada and America and each year the group performs and records around the world. His discography includes the titles Duo Cappuccini, She Sings She Screams, QIS Live, Pure Saxophone, I Dig, and Sax Ascendant.
Edward Turley, piano, holds degrees from Northwestern University (Chicago) and from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Active throughout the United States as a recitalist, soloist, accompanist, clinician and adjudicator, he has been featured in a number of Twin Cities (Minneapolis & Saint Paul, Minnesota) concert series as well as on Minnesota Public Radio. He joined the faculty of the College of St Benedict/St John's University in 1981 and has served as instructor in piano, piano literature, piano pedagogy and has developed a special area of interest in teaching courses for the non-major music student. He is also the Chair of the music department. |
