The Ebonit Saxophone Quartet was founded at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and it consists of four young ambitious musicians from Poland, Holland and Germany. All of them are students of Arno Bornkamp and are in the Bachelor phase of their studies. Since the start of the quartet in 2011, the four saxophonists developed already a versatile repertoire that lasts from transcriptions of baroque music until original French saxophone-music.

The Ebonit Saxophone Quartet won the first prize in the 'Ottomani' competition in May 2012 in Den Bosch, Netherlands and was a finalist in the 'International chamber music competition' in Almere, Netherlands.

In view of the fact that the quartet is located in Amsterdam, it also tries to build up a connection to contemporary music from the Netherlands. Furthermore, the quartet works regularly together with the composition department of the conservatory of Amsterdam.

In 2012, the quartet will perform at internationally recognized festivals such as the 'Grachtenfestival' in Amsterdam/The Netherlands. Additionally, the quartet is going to participate in a masterclass in Germany with the famous 'clair-obscur' saxophone quartet.

The famous recorder player and baroque specialist Walther van Hauwe frequently coaches the quartet. Being very open minded, he likes to share his knowledge and experience about interpretation and style. In addition, the four saxophonists get chamber music lessons from Arno Bornkamp. Being member of the renowned Aurelia Saxophone Quartet, his advices are of great value.
