The Intersect Quartet was formed in 2011 by Justin Massey, Emily Schultz, Gavin Goodwin, and Eric Toombs. This Quartet is part of the Contempo New Music Ensemble at The University of Alberta. Through this ensemble, the Quartet performs contemporary music at three concerts throughout the 2011/2012 season. As well, the members also premiere new music by undergraduate composers at two concerts held at the end of each semester at the University of Alberta.

Currently, the members of the Intersect Quartet are studying at the University of Alberta, with an aim of completing their Bachelors of Music in Saxophone Performance. The Intersect Quartet all share a passion for the performance of contemporary music, which is best demonstrated by their choices in both quartet and solo repertoire. The members of The Intersect Quartet also perform on all members of the saxophone family, often performing on multiple saxophones throughout one concert. This allows the quartet to perform pieces written with unique instrumentation.

The Intersect Quartet is planning to participate in the 2012 NASA Saxophone Quartet Competition in Arizona, and is currently planning a recital for April 2012 at the University of Alberta.

Sometime - Michael Oesterle

Sometime (2004) for saxophone quartet is derived on a piece written one year earlier, Anytime (2003) for four saxophones and four percussionists. Sometime was premiered my Quasar Quator de Saxophones on November 25, 2004 at the Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur.
