Marcus Gilley

Marc Gilley is an Assistant Professor of Music at Georgia Gwinnett College. In 2010 performed at the NASA Biennial conference. He earned his DMA in Saxophone Performance with a minor in Musicology/Ethnomusicology from the University of Georgia Athens where he studied with Dr. Kenneth Fischer.

He is currently an Assistant Professor of Music at Georgia Gwinnett College and has taught at the University of Georgia and Jacksonville State University. Georgia Gwinnett College is the nation's first four-year college of the 21st century, and the first four-year institution in the state of Georgia in over 100 years. It opened its doors to students in 2006. Since 2008 Marcus Gilley has been working to develop a music program at GGC designed to meet the challenges of the upcoming century, focusing on technology issues and interdisciplinary studies.

The music explores the use of space during the performance and how this process influences the perception of the musical composition. The music explores the interaction between these two dynamic processes: performance-space, perception-music, and how they enrich the formal structure of the piece.
