Born in Buenos Aires in 1983, Martin Proscia holds a Bachelor of Electroacoustic Composition from the National University of Quilmes (UNQ), a Degree in Composition from "Manuel de Falla" Conservatory, and a Degree in Saxophone from the Conservatory of Music "Alberto Ginastera". He studied saxophone with Daniel Martino and had lessons and masterclasses with Arno Bornkamp, Antonio Felipe Belijar and Diego Nuñez. Currently he is a PhD student at UNQ, and his research is focused on saxophone multiphonics and its application to musical composition.
As a saxophone player and performer, his activity is centred in all possible fields of contemporary music: soloist, saxophone quartet, electroacustic music, among others. He frequently works as a guest musician with the Ensamble Nacional del Sur conducted by Oscar Edelstein. He also works with different chamber contemporary music ensembles. Since 2005 he has performed as a duo with the pianist César Vernieri in which they play their own compositions and with whom he has recorded their first CD "23 Amaneceres" in 2007. Proscia also performs free-improvising music and free jazz with different groups.
As a composer, he has written pieces for all kind of ensembles, including electroacoustic, which have been played in Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, France and Italy.
