One for Four - Will Campbell

One for Four, composed by saxophonist Will Campbell, was commissioned by the New Third Stream Quartet. The piece embraces the spirit of the NTSQ by combining the traditional saxophone quartet instrumentation with harmonies, rhythms, and compositional techniques of new music and jazz. The piece begins with dissonant harmonies at a very slow tempo, and progresses to faster-paced sections that employ ostinati, improvisation, and intricate ensemble playing.

Saxophone Quartet #2 - Tyler Gilmore

Saxophone Quartet #2 is a jazz saxophone quartet exploration of the innovative harmonic, textural, and formal concepts from Bela Bartok's Fourth String Quartet. This includes directed group improvisation, jazz-influenced rhythmic ostinato, and jazz harmony.
