Phil Pierick

Phil Pierick is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in saxophone under the direction of Debra Richtmeyer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he is also saxophone teaching assistant.

Phil is a prizewinner at the MTNA National Young Artist Competition (2011) and the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition (2009) with the Hi-Def Saxophone Quartet. Phil has performed as soloist with the Illinois Wind Symphony and City High School Symphony Orchestra. Phil was named Vandoren Emerging Artist of 2011 and can be heard with Hi-Def Saxophone Quartet and University of Illinois Saxophone Ensemble on the Mark Records release World Without Words.

In 2010, Phil formed Ogni Suono Saxophone Duo with Noa Even, a chamber ensemble committed to expanding and promoting the saxophone duo by commissioning and performing new works. Ogni Suono has performed and taught throughout the Midwestern United States and Southeast Asia.

As national winner of the 2009-2010 Frank Huntington Beebe Fund for Musicians, Phil studied with Jean-Michel Goury in Paris at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Boulogne-Billancourt. Phil received Bachelor of Music degrees with Highest University Honors in Performance and Music History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 2009.
