The Pioneer Saxophone Quartet was formed in 2003 to perform with Gary Green and the University of Miami Wind Ensemble in its performance of Urban Requiem by Michael Colgrass at the Concert Band Director's National Association Conference in Minneapolis, MN. Named after the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts, the quartet features Angela Space, Saxophone Faculty at the University of Southampton, UK on soprano, George Weremchuk, Professor of Saxophone at the University of Central Florida on alto, David Pope, Professor of Saxophone at James Madison University on tenor and Lynn Klock, Professor of Saxophone at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst on baritone.
