Scott Sandberg (Video non authorized)

Dr. Scott Sandberg is currently a freelance saxophonist and conductor in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, maintaining a busy schedule as a performer, educator, clinician, and adjudicator. From 2005-2007 he held the positions of Instructor of Saxophone at the Bloomingdale School of Music in New York, New York, and Instructor of Woodwinds at Wright Music Studios in Port Washington, New York. During the 2003-2004 academic year Dr. Sandberg served as Adjunct Instructor of Jazz at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. Past honors include receiving the Bloomingdale School of Music Faculty Resource Grant and performing at the national level of the MTNA competition. A native of Grand Forks, North Dakota, he received his Bachelor of Music degree in music education from the University of North Dakota and his Master of Arts and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in saxophone performance from The University of Iowa as a student of Dr. Kenneth Tse.

i. Janua Coeli

The Roman god Janus was the guardian of gates and doorways and was associated with the beginnings of events. Janus is often represented by a double-faced figure carrying two keys, one gold and one silver. The gold key unlocked the winter solstice gate (Janua Coeli, or "Gate of Heaven") through which celestial beings passed.
