Suite - Sy Brandoni. Prelude
ii. Allemande
iii. Courante
iv. Sarabande
v. Gigue
This Neo-Baroque Suite was written for Andy Wen and Willie L. Morris III for a performance at the 2000 World Saxophone Congress in Montreal. While the movements are based in tonality, they move freely from key to key. The movements are modeled after a Baroque suite and treat the two instruments contrapuntally. Three Pieces for Saxophone Duo - Neil Floryi. Toccata
ii. Rhapsody
iii. Invention
The first and third movements of the Three Pieces for Saxophone Duo were constructed mostly through the loose application of canonic contrapuntal techniques. In terms of their pitch material, the first movement is freely chromatic while the last movement explores several symmetrical scales. By contrast, the slow, lyrical second movement is based on materials drawn from more traditional, non-symmetrical scales, and develops its ideas through non-canonic counterpoint. Three Pieces for Saxophone Duo was commissioned by Andy Wen, and its world premiere performance was given by Andy Wen and Willie Morris at the 2008 Biennial Conference of the North American Saxophone Alliance at the University of South Carolina. |
