Jeremy S. Brown is a Professor and former Head of the Music Department at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In addition to his training as a jazz and classical saxophonist, he has studied flute, woodwinds and conducting in masterclasses or lessons with Eugene Rousseau, Julius Baker, Ramon Ricker, Bonita Boyd, Robert Sprenkle, James Hill, Craig Kirchhoff, Mel Clayton, Thom David Mason, James Schoepflin, Randall Spicer and Sylvia Baker. He received the Performer's Certificate in Saxophone from the Eastman School of Music. He has recorded a number of CDs including Rubbing Stone, nominated as the Outstanding Classical Recording of the Year by the Western Canadian Music Awards, 2010. His jazz quintet Verismo has performed at the Montreal International Jazz Festival and received considerable critical acclaim.

An engagement between live and pre-recorded soprano saxophones. The recording, played by John Butcher, amplifies the instrument's quieter, more hidden qualities, creating shifting coincidences, mirrorings and alternatives for the more overt live part to co-exist with.

Dynamic Sequences for Saxophone and Piano - Kelly Marie Murphy

*1. Flowing *2. Drifting *3. Surging

A sonata in conception, this three movement work is the third work for saxophone by Murphy. Jeremy Brown premiered her alto saxophone concerto at the 2003 WSC in Minneapolis, with orchestra. The work is typical of her style, driving rhythm, with large and dramatic shifts of emotion and intensity.
