Jeremy S. Brown is a Professor and former Head of the Music Department at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In addition to his training as a jazz and classical saxophonist, he has studied flute, woodwinds and conducting in masterclasses or lessons with Eugene Rousseau, Julius Baker, Ramon Ricker, Bonita Boyd, Robert Sprenkle, James Hill, Craig Kirchhoff, Mel Clayton, Thom David Mason, James Schoepflin, Randall Spicer and Sylvia Baker. He received the Performer's Certificate in Saxophone from the Eastman School of Music. He has recorded a number of CDs including Rubbing Stone, nominated as the Outstanding Classical Recording of the Year by the Western Canadian Music Awards, 2010. His jazz quintet Verismo has performed at the Montreal International Jazz Festival and received considerable critical acclaim. |
