from UK The Kaleidoscope Saxophone Quartet was formed at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London in 2008. Under the tutorage of Christian Forshaw, they have grown into a highly accomplished and successful ensemble performing some of the most exciting repertoire in the saxophone quartet genre, including works by Astor Piazzolla, Paul Patterson, Richard Rodney Bennett and Bob Mintzer. The quartet has ambitious plans for the coming year, which include a working with a number of composers to produce new repertoire, performing recitals in the London area and recording some of their new music. |

This piece was commissioned by the London Saxophone Quartet for the 5th World Saxophone Congress, held in London in 1976. The three movements are each named after a different "wind" which depict different aspects of the saxophone's character. Quartet No.1 - Bob Mintzeri. Allegretto

Bob Mintzer's Quartet No.1 is a standard piece of the saxophone quartet repertoire. In 3 contrasting movements, it showcases all four saxophones in a variety of solo passages while showing off their versatility in sound as a group. |
