KHASM Saxophone Quartet have been playing together for over two years. They have been performing regularly around Melbourne during that time at venues such as the National Gallery of Victoria and Melba Hall and have been featured in multiple live broadcasts on 3MBS FM, Victoria's classical music radio station. Recently, KHASM were the joint winners of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (MCM) Chamber Music Competition as well as the recipients of the 2011 Athenaeum chamber music award, which is an annual prize presented to the most outstanding chamber music group within MCM. They were also invited to perform at the Percy Grainger museum's 50th anniversary celebrations and have performed in fundraisers through the Musical Society of Victoria, the Musical Students Society and UNICEF. In April 2012, KHASM undertook a national tour to meet and collaborate with other saxophonist in the capital cities of each state. At the end of 2012, KHASM will be releasing a CD of standard and Australian works for saxophone quartet. More information on KHASM can be found at www.khasmquartet.com

Compendium - Peter Neville

i. Melody
ii. Chords
iii. Ensemble 1
iv. Harmony/Timbre
v. Ensemble 2
vi. Rhythm
vii. Music without a key

"It is impossible to summarise musical practice in one short piece, so the title "Compendium" is intentionally tounge-in-cheek and ironic in the sense that each movement deals with its professed musical element in a most unexpected way ... "extended techniques" ... are perhaps only "extended" in inverse proportions to each player's imagination."
