Núñez-Muslera

Diego Núñez Saxophones
Fernando Muslera Piano

from Argentina

Núñez-Muslera, saxophone and piano duo, offers great pieces of Argentinian music in its concerts.

One of the main objectives of these two artists is to perform original pieces of contemporary Argentinian composers for the very first time, with the commitment of promoting them. Some of these works were specially written for the duo.

The outstanding pieces of tango and folklore have been arranged by the musicians respecting the traditional sonority of each genre.

Núñez-Muslera's duo has been performing all around Argentina and Uruguay and also performed in the XIV World Saxophone Congress which took place in Slovenia in July, 2006, premiering unedited Argentinian pieces. This event was sponsored by the Argentinean Foreign Office. Furthermore they have played in Ljubljana (Slovenia), Gasteig Münich (Germany), Amsterdam and Hilversum (Holland).

In July 2008, they released “¡Dale Nomás!”, the very first recording of Argentinian music for Saxophone and Piano.

In February 2009, they toured Germany, Austria and France, where they performed in Selmer Hall and Vandoren Hall in Paris, showing this work and premiering new ones.

Milonga Ad-Hoc - Fernando Mulsera

Milonga Ad-hoc is a piece which, together with "Persistencia" (Tango) and "¡Dale nomás!" (Milonga), completes a suite of music from Rio de la Plata. It combines the rhythm from the "milonga campera" with contemporary harmonies and treatment of sound. It is strongly influenced by the music of Astor Piazzolla.

Rosita Iglesias - Carlos Guastavino

Original for violin and piano. It belongs to the suite "Las presencias". The music of Guastavino combines a romantic writing with features of the argentinian folk music.

This event is a premiere

Anegado Zogondrolo - Matías Marcipar

The work Waterlogged Zogondrolo was commissioned by the duo composed Muslera-Nuñez on April 2010. In the region of Santa Fe in Argentina, there are, sometimes, flooding situations. The atmosphere which is generated when the water rises slowly results sometimes a mixture of anguish and internal expectation that transforms us into aquatic zombies: the Zogondrolos.

Violentango - Astor Piazzolla

The music of Astor Piazzolla is one of the greatest expressions of the argentinian art. Violentango belongs to the disc "Libertango" which Astor composed for the italian radio around 1974.
