Pieter Pellens is one of Belgium's young musicians. In October 2011 he received his Master in Music, at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan, with renowned performer and pedagogue Mario Marzi. Pieter is 1st prizewinner of 4 national and 4 international competitions, and he has played recitals in renowned concert halls such as Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, Yontreff Hiko, Osaka, Carnegie Hall, New York, and Beauxarts and La Monnaie, Brussels.
As a soloist, he has played many important concertos from the saxophone repertoire with professional orchestras including Orchestra Filarmonico di Torino, Chamber Orchestra of Boedapest, and the Orkest van het Oosten. He regularly plays at the Teatro alla Scala with the Filarmonica della Scala and the Academia della Scala.
Pieter loves contemporary music, and has premiered pieces by Fabien Levy, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Heather Frasch, Pasquale Corrado, Maarten De Splenter, and Michael Norris. Pieter performs with pianist Anastasia Kozhuzko and is a member of the Amigo saxophone quartet.
At the moment he is living in Vienna, where he plays in various ensembles and continues his studies with Lars Mlekusch at the Wien Privatuniversität Konservatorium.
