The Scorch Ensemble
 from UK The Scorch Ensemble was formed in 2009 by saxophonist and composer Catherine Evison and gave its debut performance at the World Saxophone Congress in Bangkok in the same year. Made up of a combination of eminent British saxophonists and emerging talent, the group performs Catherine's original music for saxophone ensemble and percussion. Catherine studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with John Harle and Christian Forshaw, graduating in 2007 with first class honours. She played principal alto saxophone with the National Saxophone Choir of Great Britain for four years, in which time she performed several concerti in the UK, Europe and Far East to 5 star reviews and is a founder member of the award winning Quadrophonia Saxophone Quartet and saxophone and dance fusion group SaxMob! Catherine is a keen composer and has written a number of works for saxophone her music is influenced by a mixture of folk, jazz and contemporary music. Her taste for earthy music with real drive has lead to commissions by the National Saxophone Choir, Grimsby and Cleethorpes and District Youth Orchestra, as well soloists as far afield as Hong Kong and Australia. |
Five - Catherine Evison'Five' explores the emotions of Elizabeth Kübler-Ross' model, 'The Five Stages of Grief or Loss'. The stages are theorised as 'Denial', 'Anger', 'Bargaining', 'Depression' and 'Acceptance', and are commonly experienced by those coping with terminal illness, personal loss, or who are in the course of significant life changes. |
